Millbrook WTW – FST FDC
Client: MWH/4DScale: 1/6th
The Millbrook FST Distribution Chamber was required to maintain the required discharge of flow to each of the four hydraulic structures over the normal operating condition; this was also to include operation with any one from four of the structures out of service.
A detailed flow discharge rate over each of the weirs and subsequent outlet pipe was identified by the Client for operation throughout the anticipated operating rage. It was accepted that it may not be possible to produce the required flow and precise discharge over the full test range however, provided the deviation was not too significant this was not considered to be critical to process performance. Flow discharge over the weirs was to be as close to the required stipulated values as possible, with limits of +/- 5% of the required value deemed acceptable.
The model test was required to establish proposed modifications, where considered necessary, to achieve a satisfactory flow division to the distribution chamber weirs. Due to site constraints it was proposed that any modifications to the overall chamber structure and general weir arrangement were to be avoided if possible.
